 High Resolution Satellite Imagery

Mine Site Management

Mine  Overview

This an panchromatic overview image of the Cananea Mine in Sonora province of Northern Mexico.

Facilities Management

Both images are of mine facilities at the Cananea Mine demonstrating the usefulness of 1 meter IKONOS imagery for facility management.

Mine Detail

These images show detail of the mine pit, including mine equipment, dump sites, roads and even light posts. These images could be used for the planning, monitoring and restoration of mining operations.

Tailings

High resolution imagery can be used in the long term monitoring of tailing and other waste sites. Temporal changes can be documented through the use of regular imagery collections. The use of infrared imagery can show environmental damage before it is visible in colour imagery.

Infrared Imagery

These two images are derived using the 4 meter multispectral sensor. On the left is a true color image created by combining the red, blue and green bands. The right image is a false color image created by combining the red, green and infrared bands. this image is useful in early detection of vegetation under stress due to environmental conditions.
